SASH Allies & Caregivers Aid Grateful Rutland County Residents
"Providing high quality, compassionate supportive services is not what we do. It's who we are," says Kevin Loso, chief executive officer of the Rutland Housing Authority, referring to the SASH staff -- and the SASH program -- run by RHA in its housing communities and the surrounding area.
This was one of many takeaways from an article about the Rutland SASH program featured in the fall 2022 issue of Rutland Magazine. Other RHA staff and SASH participants interviewed by writer Paul Post had equally glowing things to say about the benefits of SASH.
"They've been a lifesaver to me. I don't know where I'd be without them," says Rutland resident and SASH participant Verna White, referring to members of her SASH team. "They're great. They really are."
"I think of us as a referral agency," says SASH coordinator Anna Lang. "If SASH can't fulfill a need directly, we find a health care provider or program that can," she adds, noting that SASH partners with agencies throughout the county. "It really takes a team of people to make things happen and keep people home."
